Good Neighbours Community Transport Scheme

Code of Conduct

Hazlemere, Widmer End & Holmer Green Good Neighbours Transport is committed to giving a high quality of care to our clients. All the drivers and telephonists are volunteers who give generously of their time and resources. The relationship between clients and volunteers is important to us and is a two-way process. Therefore, in order to protect both the volunteers and the clients we have a zero tolerance policy and respectfully point out that the following inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated:

  • Rudeness, swearing or shouting
  • Abusive or threatening behaviour
  • Drunkenness
  • Verbal/physical abuse

Where such behaviour is observed, the driver reserves the right to refuse to undertake or complete the journey.

Normally the following will be rules of travel:

  • No smoking
  • No drinking
  • No eating.

The driver reserves the right to refuse any request outside the remit of the journey as defined by the original call.

Finance

Our clients are encouraged to make a donation to the driver to cover the cost of the journey. Guidelines on these donations are available from the telephonist or the driver.

Medical Conditions

Any condition that may affect the transport arrangement must be made known to the telephonist taking the booking, and passed on to the driver.

For example, any who suffer from a condition such as epilepsy or psychological disorders should be accompanied by a third party. Mobility difficulties can be discussed with both the telephonist and the driver so any needs are clear, (especially if transport of a mobility aid is required.)

Children

All children must be accompanied by an appropriate adult.

Criminal Records Check

All of our volunteer drivers are required to undergo a criminal records check. This is because we transport vunerable adults, due to age, illness, or disability. These checks are managed by the ‘Disclosure and Barring Service’ known as ‘DBS’ checks
