Hazlemere, Widmer End & Holmer Green
Good Neighbours Community Transport Scheme
About Us
The organisation was formed by a few volunteers from Hazlemere in 1986 primarily to provide transport for elderly people in the local area who need to visit the doctor, dentist, attend a hospital appointment or local group meetings and find public transport difficult due to age or disability.
In addition to this service Good Neighbours also take elderly and disabled residents from their home or local sheltered housing on regular shopping trips to local supermarkets. We also provide minibus transport to support the Lantern Club Day Centre in Holmer Green and run other social outings using our minibus.
Good Neighbours is a registered charity and like many voluntary organisations, is run by a small dedicated management committee and some 25 volunteers who operate the phone line and drive customers to their appointments.
We currently have some 65 clients on our register, who rely totally on our car service and in 2019 we completed some 295 car journeys.
We liaise with the local doctors surgeries, social services and carers to advertise our services and currently take people from the Hazlemere, Widmer End, and Holmer Green villages.
Volunteering
Organisations like ourselves cannot exist without the dedicated support of volunteers, so if you are able to spare a few days a month to help us, whether as a driver, or as telephone support then please find out more by visiting our Volunteering page.
Fundraising
We are always seeking donations towards buying a newer and bigger minibus to help improve the service we provide, if you wish to support us with a donation please visit our Fundraising page to learn more.
